Christ’s Compassion: Walking Around in Another’s Skin
May 31, 2020 Speaker: Rev. David Donovan Series: Coronavirus Virtual Service Livestreams
Scripture: Leviticus 13:9–11, Leviticus 13:45–46, Mark 1:40–45
What is a gospel response to the unrest of society? Through his interaction with a leper in Mark's gospel account, Jesus Christ reveals his empathy and compassion for those alienated from society and powerless to be restored because of one attribute of being created in the image of God: the condition of his skin. As participants in the gospel, we are called and empowered to reveal Christ's compassion and empathy in the desolate places of today's societal wilderness by identifying with the alienated and powerless emotionally, physically, and socially.
