Follow the Leader

Humility is something our culture does not embrace. Instead, we are regularly taught that “if you’ve got it, flaunt it.” Yet pride breeds division and dissension and conflict. In short, pride undermines relationship. In this passage we are encouraged to avoid selfishness and the pursuit of empty glory and to instead consider other people as being more significant than ourselves. In this we have the stunning example of the Son of God who models complete humility to us.
